Package VII: China Historical Cities Tour

Beijing→Qufu→Kaifeng→Luoyang→Xi'an→Chengdu→Nanjing→Yangzhou→Suzhou→Hangzhou→Shanghai

1. Beijing

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is unarguably the heart of the nation's politics, culture and international intercourse. It is a fast changing and modern city full of vigor. Beijing is one of the six ancient capital cities in Chinese history. The other five ancient cities are Xian, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Nanjing and Hangzhou. It once used as the capital for the dynasties such as Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qin.
Day 1: Visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Yashow Market, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace.
Day 2: Visit the Great Wall, Ming Tomb by tour car.

2. Qufu (Hometown of Confucius)

Qufu is historical and cultural city, it was the hometown of Confucius (551-479 B.C.), the celebrated thinker, philosopher and educationist in ancient China. For twenty-five centuries, he has exerted profound influence on Chinese society with his ideas right up to the present century. Among historical sites there, the most famous are Temple of Confucius, Confucius Mansion, and Forest of Confucius.
Day 3: Visit Temple of Confucius, Confucius Mansion, and Forest of Confucius.

3. Kaifeng

Kaifeng, known as "the Capital of Seven Dynasties", is a famous city with a long history, splendid traditions, and a great number of cultural relics and historic sites. It was proclaimed as one of the 24 famous historic and cultural cities. Kaifeng was once called Daliang and Bianliang in history.
Day 4: Visit Daxiangguo Temple, the newly Imperial Song Street & Garden Landscape.
Day 5: Visit Dragon Pavilion, the Iron Pagoda.

4. Luoyang

Luoyang served as the capital for nine dynasties over a period of more than 1,500 years. 96 emperors from the prehistoric Xia Dynasties, through Shang, Western and Eastern Zhous, Cao Wei, Sui, Later Liang, Later Tang and Later Jin Eastern Han established their seat of power there. Luoyang's importance in history means that it has significant influence in China's cultural heritage and has many historical sites.
Day 6: Visit White Horse Temple and Longmen Grottoes.

5. Xi'an

Xi'an, also named Chang'an, is the biggest city in north-west China. It once served as the nation's capital for thirteen dynasties such as Western Zhou (11th century BC - 771 BC), Qin (221 BC - 206 BC), Western Han (206 BC - 24 AD) and Tang for over 1000 years. It is well noted for historical value.
Day 7: Visit Terracotta Amy, Bell & Drum Tower, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Day 8: Visit City Wall,Famen Temple (India Temple), Hanyang Tomb.

6. Chengdu

The administrative seat of several ancient kingdoms, Chengdu has a 2,300-year history as an important center of study and trade. In the early fourth century BC, the ancient Shu state established a capital in today's Chengdu.
Day 9: Visit Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, Wenshu Monastery, bustling outdoor markets.
Day 10: Visit Temple of the Marquis of Wu, Qingchengshan Mountain (cradles of Taoism), Jinli Street.

7. Nanjing

One of Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, Nanjing, called Jinling in ancient China, is the capital of Jiangsu Province. History has left the place numerous historical sites and heritage relics.
Day 11: Visit Confucius Temple, Nanjing Drum Tower, Mochou Lake Park, Nanjing City Wall.
Day 12: Visit Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, Xiaoling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty, Xuanwu Lake.

8. Yangzhou

Yangzhou, on the other bank of Yangtze River, emerged during the Spring and Autumn Period. The city itself is a museum of Chinese culture and a beautiful Chinese garden. For westerners, an interesting footnote to Yangzhou's history is that Marco Polo served there under the Mongol emperor Kubilai Khan, in the period around 1282-1287.
Day 13: Visit Daming Buddhist Temple, Heyuan Garden.
Day 14: Visit Geyuan Garden, Slender West Lake, Museum of Imperial Mausoleum of Han Dynasty.

9. Suzhou

The beautifully landscaped city is located in the south-east of Jiangsu Province. The Grand Canal (Sui Dynasty 581-618), which flows from Beijing to Hangzhou has irrigated Suzhou aiding its illustrious culture and turning it into prosperous land. It is of little surprise that Suzhou is called ''Heaven on Earth''.
Day 15: Visit Silk Museum, Garden of the Master of Nets, Tiger Hill, Humble Administrator's Garden.
Day 16: Visit Zhouzhuang Water Town, Lion Grove, Liu Yuan (Lingering Garden).

10. Hangzhou

China's "Paradise on Earth", Hangzhou is a lovely city centered around the famed West Lake. This green city is full of gardens, tranquil temples and pavilions and bustling historic streets to venture through. For this cultural city, People always said: "In heaven there is paradise, on earth there is Hangzhou." Marco Polo said:"Hanhzhou is the most beautiful and elegant city in the world."
Day 17: Visit Lingyin Temple, West Lake, Six Harmonies Pagoda.
Day 18: Visit Ancient Village Wuzhen, Qinghefang Pedestrian Street, Song Dynasty.

11. Shanghai

Shanghai is situated in central-eastern China, facing the East China Sea. It is divided into two sections: Pudong and Puxi. Pudong is the new development zone on the east of Huangpu River while Puxi is the old area lying on the west of Huangpu River. Shanghai possesses two airports-Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport (domestic).
Day 19: Visit Yuyuan Garden, Jade Buddha Temple, Nanjing Road.
Day 20: Visit Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Zhujiajiao Water Town.
