Package XII: Famous China Lakes Tour

1. West Lake (Paradise Lake)

The West Lake, located in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, is one of the best-known and most beautiful lakes in China. Centuries later, Marco Polo called Hangzhou the most enchanting city in the world. Hills embrace the lake on three sides; the city properly lies to the east. Ancient Chinese people praised the West Lake area as a land of intoxicating beauty. Her famous scenic spots comprise Small Paradise Island, Su Causeway, and Bai Causeway, Solitary Hill and Mid-lake Pavilion.

2. Thousand Islets Lake (Qian Dao Lake)

Lake Qiandaohu (Thousand Islets Lake) situated in Chun'an county 160 km west of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, is a golden tourist line in the west of Zhejiang. The name Qiandaohu means “Thousand Islands Lake.” Famous for its clear waters, many small islands and beautiful vistas of clouds hanging over green mountains, Qiandaohu is a well-known scenic spot.

3. Qinghai Hu (Lake Kokonor)

Qinghai lies in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which has an average elevation of 3000 meters. The Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Mekong River originate in Qinghai, from which the name "the source of the rivers" is derived. Snow Mountains, ice peaks, deserts, vast pastures and lakes dotted like stars in the sky form a backdrop for the flocks of rare birds and animals that inhabit this unique landscape.

4. Songhuahu Lake

Songhuahu Lake is an enchanting, narrow lake huddled in between droves of pine trees. It is easy, and perhaps fun, to get lost while strolling along its leaf-strewn paths or quietly boating around the lake. Songhuahu Lake is located just 24 km. outside Jilin City in Jilin Province. Jilin is part of the “Northeast” provinces, which also include Liaoning, and Heilongjiang.

5. Lugu Lake

Lugu Lake lies 200 kilometers (approximately 124 miles) from the center of Lijiang City, on the border between Ninglang County in Yunnan Province and Yanyuan County in Sichuan Province. The lake is like a beautiful pearl shining among the hills of the northwest plateau in Yunnan. The lake contains five islands, three peninsulas and a sea- wall islet and is surrounded by green hills and winding bays. It is one of the best preserved scenic areas in China.
